North Lake Tahoe progress report
Eastern Placer Future (EPF) is rolling along with its incorporation proposal for North Lake Tahoe. EPF made a presentation to the Truckee Town Council recently to bring their Nevada County neighbors up to date.
We would have our own locally elected officials, much like the Town of Truckee. We often look to Truckee for inspiration on how local governance can work.EPF's Andrew Ryan, speaking to the Truckee Town Council on 8/12/25
The preliminary conceptual boundaries for the new municipality would include all areas of Placer County east of Donner Summit. Serene Lakes, Donner Lake and wildland areas designated as State Responsibility Areas for wildfire protection are not included. EPF is hopeful that Placer LAFCO will place the proposal on the November 2026 ballot. In adjacent El Dorado County to the South, the cityhood proposal for El Dorado Hills is also targeting the November 2026 election. Unincorporated North Lake Tahoe and unincorporated El Dorado Hills are both within State Senate District 04, currently held by Senator Marie-Alvarado-Gil of Amador County. The Senate seat will be contested again in 2026.
