North Tahoe files for incorporation

Congratulations to Eastern Placer Future for officially filing to let local people at Tahoe's Northshore gain local control over their municipal affairs! Sierra Sun published an article in this week's edition about steps the group has taken to submit the application for cityhood to Placer LAFCO. In short, the necessary boxes have been checked. Now it is up to Placer LAFCO to process the application according to the state's rules - cumbersome and expensive as they may be. It has taken years to get to this point and the remaining steps in the process could be challenging. Still, locals at the Lake are hopeful for a positive result such that the issue can go before the voters soon, perhaps as early as the General Election in November 2026. California (un)Incorporated wishes you Godspeed, North Lake Tahoe!

Incorporation, at its core, is about a simple idea—the people who live here, love and steward this place, should have a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their daily lives and their future
